December 2011

19th November to 3rd January - Urgent Winter Wonderland Travel News

If you are travelling to Winter Wonderland, we suggest you come by public transport and now it is getting busy you might want to look at alternatives to Hyde Park Corner which gets a bit crowded. You can use Green Park, Marble Arch, Knightsbridge and South Kensington Stations from where you can take a bus or even walk a little way. Also we have the Land Train from Speaker's Corner you can use.

Hyde Park is enjoying the fabulous Winter Wonderland Festival and once again we are central to this. Bringing once more the amazing Alpine Adventures with the misplaced but fun Penguin Party Dodgems here shown being driven by Prime Minister David Cameron, and the Ski Jump too, plus the Avalanche and the brand new Snowboard, and we have even more to enthrall and entertain such as our Carousel bar.

Ride our London Bus, swing on the Waveswinger, look out for Reindeers who will carry you off, and get dizzy on the Flying Baubles. There are lots of great things about Winter Wonderland, and the food and drink on offer is magnificent, but one of the best things of all is that it is free to enter and you can spend hours wandering around to see the sights whilst only spending on what you want to use so no large entry fees for you to endure. What more could you ask for in these difficult economic times?

That is why you must book Winter Wonderland in your diary right now, and just two minutes walk from Hyde Park Corner with the buses and underground so no more convenient place for a family day out. That is why this is London's premier event each and every year and why Carnival Funfairs are so proud to be part of this.

So leave the car at home and just drive our Penguins like Mr Cameron did, and enjoy your day and travel safely.

19th November to 3rd January - Santa Lands in Santaland Hyde Park

One of the many highlights of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, the value for money fun festival, is Santa Land where the old bearded chap in his long red coat meets children, all free of charge, and where we entertain the kids and their parents too as well as those young of heart of all ages who come for the sheer delight of a great London Day out. This year Santa Land will be even better (impossible those of you who have been before cry.....certainly not we respond!) with trains, carousels, wheels, games, food, hot drinks, singing chickens (yes, I got that right) as well as Father Xmas himself. We found this photo on the Evening Standard website and thought you might like to see it too.

No need to book, no entry fee, handy for buses and trains at Hyde Park Corner, this annual festival which won the award for best event in London last year, and well deserved too, returns to thrill you all. See you in midwinter, but certainly not in the Bleak Midwinter in this part of the country, and we look forward to giving you a thrilling day out.

19th November to 3rd January - Have a drink with us in Hyde Park.

People say to us "Surely you cannot bring anything else new to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland?" Well, actually yes we can and the same warped imagination that produced the Penguin Party and Avalanche, as well as Santaland and the wonderful magical reindeer ride, has now created the superb Carousel Bar and Restaurant. You may well have seen our Carousel Bar on Children in Need on the BBC on 18th November as the reporters spent a considerable amount of time in there, probably just enjoying the atmosphere as opposed to the beer.

With the bar in the centre of a very gently spinning Carousel and a value for money restaurant with seats, happily not spinning, this addition to London's premier annual Christmas event opens on November 19th. Sitting opposite the gates to Santaland with friendly staff waiting to greet you, come and have a drink with us and a bite with your friends. What we love about this is that families are coming in with young children and the parents can have a drink whilst knowing that their children are safe in the wonderful atmosphere this has generated (see BBC staff for confirmation of this).

By the way, the Carousel spins very slowly and if you think the horses are speeding up, you have probably had enough! Come and enjoy. We also have lots of refreshment areas in Alpine Adventures as well as Santa Land itself, with soft drinks too and slightly harder ones for the adults, as well as plenty to eat. Gorge yourself at this gorgeous festival.

19th November to 3rd January - Follow your leader to Hyde Park

Let there be no doubt that Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is the place to be this winter, and just to prove it here are three happy characters in Hyde Park on December 2nd. Enjoying the dry and chilly night air was a certain David Cameron, who you may have come across at some time, who came for a family visit with his lovely wife Samantha and his children too, and with him is Joseph Manning, responsible for the wonderful attractions in Santaland and Alpine Adventures that you can find on this website. Plus a young man clearly having a fantastic time too. The Prime Minister is watching his children on the Santaland Carousel.

This website would not always advocate copying the antics of senior politicians, but this time we know that they know what is best for us all. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, that is what.

Dec 8th 2011 to Jan 8th - New York, Bluewater, we are everywhere.

Just south of the Dartford River Crossing you will find the Bluewater Shopping Centre, full of Christmas cheer, cafes, shopping and lots of fun. Plenty of car parking spaces too, and this year Bluewater have turned themselves into New York, bringing the best of the USA to Kent.

We are delighted to be providing a magical Christmas Carousel and games and fun to add to the super real ice rink, run by Olympic Gold Medallist Robin Cousins, as well as of course good old Santa in his grotto every day up to and including December 24th when he will hop in his sleigh and whizz back to pack his bags to deliver presents to all the good girls and boys, and probably some of the other ones too.....well it is Christmas.

No photos so far so here is the little Bluewater sketch of what is there, but we will replace this with photos very soon, just as soon as we catch our breath.

Indoors and out of the windy weather, Bluewater is a great day out so whilst parents can shop the children can play. What a wonderful idea, Bluewater, Bluewater, so good they named it twice. (Frank Sinatra, eat your heart out)

October 2011

27th to 30th October 2011 - Country Fayre, nearly there.

Not long now before Old Macdonald's Country Fayre arrives in Barking Road Recreation Ground, near the A406 Flyover just between East Ham in east London and Barking. Also shortly to land in that park are Old Macdonald's famous (or infamous perhaps) singing chickens, a small flock who have fled the farm to roost in Newham for a four day period before marching proudly to Hyde Park for Winter Wonderland.

These have to be seen to believed, and even having seen them you will not believe how appalling their jokes can be and how tuneful their singing. Stars of the Eggs Factor, they will enthral you and watching them is free of charge once you have paid the entry fee. After all, they are only paid chicken feed and work very cheep!

Just another reason to make sure you visit Old Macdonald's Country Fayre this October School Half Term Week.

27th to 30th October 2011 - Old Macdonald's County Fayre Comes to East Ham

This October Carnival Funfairs is thrilled to bring one of our favourite events, Old Macdonald's Country Fayre to Barking Road Recreation Ground in Newham. Open during the half term week, 27th October to 30th October, each day from 12 noon to 7 pm this is a taste of the country coming to the heart of the east end, and we thank Newham Council for agreeing to host this festival of family fun. East London will never have seen anything quite like this!

Pay just £1 entry and you can meet and greet Old Macdonald's farm characters and enjoy the Duck Race, Milking Cow, singing chickens and craft workshops for no extra charge (and the ducks, cow and chickens are not real so do not worry about their health, but they are great fun) as well as take part in craft workshops.

Mr Punch and Judy will also be there each and every day, plus Magic Shows on Thursday and Saturday and Puppet Workshops on Friday and Sunday. Great fun, and all part of your value for money £1 entrance.

Then, if you wish, you can buy tokens and enjoy lots of fun activities for children and their parents, such as the Wacky worm coaster, Pony Ride, Old Mac's Tornado, the farm Merry go round, Swan Lake, the farm train and the children's waveswinger and flying jets. We also have a lovely traditional Victorian Big Wheel so you can look right over all the event and watch everyone having fun.

We have special family rates too so you can either buy tokens for just 50p each or save 25% and buy £25 worth of tokens for just £20.

Plus, every visitor will receive £10 off voucher for a child with a paying adult when they want to visit Old Macdonald's Award Winning Farm in Brentwood, home of TOWIE and Old Macdonald too. You can learn all about Old Macdonald's Farm by visiting www.omdfarm.co.uk or by visiting the farm itself at Weald Road, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 5AY.

The Country Fayre will be great value and great fun, so see you in Barking Road Recreation Ground. The postcode is E6 2LW and Barking Road is between East Ham and the Barking A406 flyover.

1st, 5th and 8th November - Light up the sky with Carnival Funfairs

Carnival Funfairs are proud to contribute to the multi racial and multi cultural country that is Britain today, and join in many festivals of the various communities around London and the South East of England. We are delighted to provide rides for Neasden Temple and for Eidh festivities for example, and of course to provide a superb fair for Guy Fawkes Night where this multi cultural society commemorates the burning of Catholics!

Only joking of course because the traditional British Bonfire night is enjoyed by all, but this year we are presenting three fireworks festivals in London and the South East, and these are at Grundy Park in Cheshunt, in Broxbourne with others to follow. More details to follow, but put these in your diary now.

August 2011

25th to 28th August 2011 - Excited to be part of Newham Under the Stars

One of the best events in east London returns this year to Central Park, High Street South. East Ham, E6 as Newham stage their "Newham Under the Stars" Festival and we are delighted to be providing some of our fabulous family attractions as part of this. If the prospect of riding on our Big Wheel or Carousel is not enough to bring you there on its own, then here is the varied programme that we strongly recommend, because last year we actually went along to just enjoy the festival, but this year will be working so you will have to enjoy it for us.

Starting with Jazz in the Park on Thursday 25 August, gates open at 6.30pm. Join some of the UKs finest musicians for an evening of sophisticated jazz. The line up includes the world famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra, award winning Claire Martin and internationally acclaimed saxophonist Courtney Pine.

Then, Eastern Beats on Friday 26 August, gates open at 6.30pm. A variety of the biggest Asian music stars will be brought together for one night only. Join host BBC Radio 1s Nihal for performances from Juggy D, H-Dhami, and Britain's Got Talent Finalists the ThreeBee Bollywood Dancers. There will also be a legendary headline set by Asian music veterans Heera.

If it doesn't usually, then on Saturday August 27th Newham Rocks You, gates open at 6.30pm. The unique sound of Queen will be recreated by Queen on Fire, one of the UKs best tribute bands. Sing along to all your favourite tracks including We Will Rock and Bohemian Rhapsody. They will be joined by twelve piece live band 'MIB' whose energetic performance at this year's Royal Wedding had more than 300,000 people dancing in Hyde Park. (By the way, this is not THE Queen who will be on fire, that would be a bit off really even for Newham!

Finally on Sunday 28th, Summertime Proms. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will once again dazzle with a selection of popular light classics. This year's concert will feature well known film music including themes from Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter. There will also be rousing flag waving to Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, all topped off with a spectacular firework finale.

Do not miss this tremendous Summer Festival and all credit to the Council for keeping up their exciting and innovative programme, and for inviting us!
